About

Association is an annual student publication that showcases the work of AAP students, faculty, and alumni and sets the stage for interdepartmental comparison. Our mission is to prompt college-wide discussion about the interconnectivity of ideas being explored in the areas of architecture, art, and planning.

.

SPRING 2009: Association Online (www.aapassociation.org) sets the stage for real-time AAP project sharing and discussion.

.

FALL 2008: Association Volume III is published. Association Volumes I, II, and III are available for viewing in the Fine Arts Library, Dean’s office, and the Architecture Department Office, 139 East Sibley.

Volume III Chapter one showcases the finalists of the Association competition. In fall 2007, the editors announced an open call for submissions from the students and faculty of AAP for a college-wide competition. All of the submissions were organized by department and displayed in the Green Dragon Cafe for one week. During that week, students were asked to vote on one favorite project/work from each of the three departments, regardless of the department to which they belonged. The goal was to display the work of all departments while promoting interaction among them - to have artists scanning Planning proposals, planners studying Architecture’s floor plans, and architects browsing work from the Art department. The three works from each department that received the most votes appear in chapter one.

Volume III Chapter two offers a wide ranging survey of creative and scholarly activity in AAP, including everything from thesis projects to point-and-shoot Dragon Day photos. The idea is to sample a variety of activities AAP students/faculty/alumni are involved in and to depict AAP culture, not solely academic work made to hand in to a professor. This chapter presents AAP as a rich, expansive and commingled collection of many talents across our several disciplines.
